Whammy’s is $30 for a plate with two meats, four sides, plus cornbread and cranberry sauce. They also charge about $7–$8 for a slice of cake, which is honestly too much for what you’re getting. To be real, it is NOT worth $30. I’d say it’s more like a $20 plate at best. The food just doesn’t match the price. The mac and cheese was the worst part—tasted cheap, like boxed or store-bought with low-quality cheese. It didn’t feel like real Southern mac and cheese at all, and I couldn’t eat it. The mashed potatoes were just okay. The yams were decent but needed a thicker glaze instead of a watery sauce. The chicken was average, not really seasoned the way Southern food should be. The fried catfish was soggy and needed more time in the fryer. The corn was actually one of the better items—simple but good. The cornbread was basic, nothing special. The staff was very nice, but the food overall didn’t live up to expectations at all. Because of that, I won’t be coming back. A $30 price tag for this just isn’t justified.”

Omg! When I say I was pleased and satisfied with tasty food. Very nice people and environment. Portions are great and I couldn't finish my 2 piece catfish fillets with Mac and cheese greens potato salad and corn bread. My daughter had chicken wings and spaghetti with macaroni and cheese and corn bread. It Was delicious and tasty. I highly recommend that you done here.

Smelled the food as soon as I walked in I knew I was home. Got back to the hotel to eat and OMG it was so good didn't know what to eat first. Everything seasoned with seasoning and love. Refer everyone to Wammy's if you in Rockford looking for some down south flavor. Prices are great not trying to get an arm and a leg for a good meal. My hats are off to Miss Sandra.

The food here was absolutely amazing. I got the catfish nuggets and pretty much 1 of each side to try. The plate was CLEARED. The staff here was super friendly and we had a great conversation. I felt so at home here with their hospitality, I almost thought I was home. 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for good authentic soul food.

I’ve been a loyal customer and I had been purchasing fish every Friday just about. I’ve told several people, including dozens of my Nurse friends to try out this spot until one evening. I purchased fish and there was human hair on my fish. The owner promised me for free orders of fish. I was fulfilled with two orders and then the owner and the restaurant stop answering my calls. It would not take my order because they knew that it was me and they did not want to fulfill those additional two orders that they offered yesterday. I had to call from my Son Son‘s phone and explained to them that I will pay for my fish, I don’t even want the additional two orders of fish so I picked up my order and today I went to put my food in the air fryer and again there is hair in my food. This time, I absolutely feel like it was done, intentionally by the server upfront.
